The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren is an aid to gain enlightenment to the age old question of “WHAT ON EARTH AM I HERE FOR?” The ultimate goal of reading this book is to know God's purpose for your life and to understand the big picture-how all the pieces of your life fit together. Having this perspective is designed to reduce your stress, simplify your decisions, increase your satisfaction, and, most important, prepare you for eternity.
I must admit, this chapter makes a good case for church membership. "Isolation breeds deceitfulness; it is easy to fool ourselves into thinking we are mature if there is no one to challenge us. Real maturity shows up in relationships." Being in fellowship with other Christians keeps us accountable. Not only that, but we encourage others by our example. Church is where many of us find out who we are, what we are gifted to do and our place in the world. It's the breeding ground for many of our entertainers, comedians, singers, performers. They all honed their craft in the church. It's a good jumping off point but it's also a good place to belong. There is nothing better than being part of a good church where you are loved, looked for and ministered to - church at it's finest.
